Training your Flock to get in the Coop.

Installing an automatic coop opener kit onto your coop will require you to train your flock because their behavior is likely to change.

For instance:

  • Adding a door opener kit to an existing community of birds already living in the coop is different than adding new birds to a coop that is already automated. You may need to train the birds and increase the closing delays.
  • Some birds may behave differently when you automate the door than they did previously or will in the future. You may have one or more birds that like to wait as long as possible to enter and then they get caught out all night.

UNTIL THE FLOCK IS TRAINED WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU MONITOR AND VERIFY THAT ALL OF YOUR BIRDS ARE IN THE COOP WHEN IT IS DARK BECAUSE THE DOOR MAY CLOSE AND STRAND THEM OUTSIDE.
